The Tampa Bay Lightning just released the latest TV commercial created by Dunn&Co. After visiting a Lightning fan blog, our creative department wondered “When the Lightning strikes, how far can its Thunder be felt?” So with the Lightning’s blessing, we ventured beyond our borders to find Tampa Bay Lightning fans that support our team from afar. What we found was a lone hockey enthusiast in a town of 250,000 soccer fans. It took our team 52 hours of travel and 10 flights round trip from Tampa to the southern tip of Brazil to reach The Lightning’s die-hard, bleed-blue fan Rafael Amarante.
The #DistantThunder campaign has already elicited responses from fans in Australia, France, the United Kingdom, and Eastern Europe expressing their unwavering support for the team. The Tampa Bay Business Journal even took note of the impact that Dunn&Co. has had on The Lightning’s authentic marketing strategy with this inventive advertising approach.
