The first time I arrived at Dunn&Co. I thought I was in the wrong place. An old three story brick building with a banner that read “The Cigar Factory” stood before me. I doubled checked the address, certain my GPS directed me to the wrong location. I mean, the sign clearly said cigar factory, not award-winning advertising agency, right?
Wrong. My GPS hadn’t failed me. I was in the right spot. Still skeptical, I walked into the building and hoped for the best.
My optimistic mindset must have worked because I could not have walked into a better situation. I am now the Copywriter/Social Media Intern and Michael holds the position as the Account Management Intern. So far, our internship experience at Dunn&Co. has allowed us to learn from some of the brightest, talented and passionate people we have ever met.
If you asked us a month ago why we wanted to go into advertising we would have responded with something generic and vague like, “because it’s a constantly changing industry and it’s everywhere.”
But after being exposed to an agency setting, we get it. We understand what advertisers really do. They take a brand and give it life. They work their minds tirelessly to come up with ideas and they shape opinions and evoke emotions. Advertisers hold the power to influence others.
Now, ask us why we want to go into advertising.
